School thoughts...

Two quick thoughts on my first week of full-time school since 1988:

1) I was unprepared for the amount of reading that would be required. Yesterday, I read 15 chapters from textbooks, plus 6 research journal articles.

2) I am amazed by the number of people pursuing a doctorate in education that have absolutely no classroom experience. It seems to me (and this is very unscientific) that less than half of the students in the program have spent time in front of a group of students. Draw your own conclusions.

September 1? I must be starting my new research assistant job today.
